Raising the bar

We're always looking for new ways to promote sustainability across the organisation - at every level.

As the bar sponsor at World Architecture Festival 2011 (WAF) we challenged ourselves (and the design team) to design the most sustainable bar we could - after all, it's a temporary structure needed for only three days.

We tested a number of eco-paints - from light wood stains through to heavier paints - to design something which matched the corporate colour pallete and looked effective.

We settled on vegetable oil based paint, on wood from FSC approved sources. There was no mechanical process involved, they were painted by hand, and we will be able to recycle the wood after the event.

The bar-top was produced from recycled stone; sourced from a local company in Spain, where the festival is being hosted.

I'm sure you'll agree that the result looks great!
